I received an official looking email from a NAMM representative yesterday. It stated that there will be NO WFD at the Winter Anaheim NAMM show.

Well that's a kick to the head !

They told me that the space at the NAMM was waiting for the WFD to take but there were no takers. Someone else is using the space now that would have been alloted to the WFD. I have attended these for years. Boo and Craig are good people. They probably had a very good reason for not doing it this winter.

Probably because they realized how lame the WFD competition is. WFD has nothing to do with music and I could never understand the attraction to watching idiots play 1000+ notes a minute. I'd rather watch paint dry.

Ouch! Damn, man thats a little harsh. Some people don't like to watch chess matches, but still, its a contest of a specific skill. I know if I could play up to 1200 beats in one minute, shit I'd drag Grandma down to watch that!

Sorry to be so harsh to anyone that attempts WFD but it's not music nor does it have anything to do with music. NAMM might as well have a 100 yard dash race for drummers, that has about as much to do with music as WFD.

So let us have our 100 yard dash and you can stay home and watch paint dry.

You're just kidding me right?

Hey Bill, did you ever try funk with double bass drums?

I used a DW5002 from the day they were introduced until about 13 years ago....SO....from about 1983-1995. I can still pull off double strokes on my feet. Double pedals just lost my interest.

WFD has alot to do with music...because it has to do with playing notes for percussion really fast...percussion has to do with music. it not musical, but it is very much related to music. and its just good clean fun, no need to bash it. let people enjoy it.

I think you're slightly missing the point....

Ever play keepy ups with a ball? Has very little to do with football (soccer) but it's about having fun, a bit of friendly competition. Not to mention the prizes for WFD are always pretty smart!

Not something I'd practice hours on end for, but that's because I've never been very good at keepy ups! :D
